Agriculture

( January – March 2015)

by Brother Tanmaya

The cultivation of taro should be experimented in our Master Unit as the riverside soil is adequate for this plant and the nearby river will supply enough water the year round. This plant does not need a lot of care and can stand many diseases. Further more, there is a big taro demand in the local markets, especially after the Lunar New Year when few are shown on the stalls for sale.Since October 2014, Brother Tanmaya has planted step by step the yellow waxy taro, starting from the 11,000m2 (1.1 hectares) of the lowland by the riverside frequently flooded in the rainy season, to another 3,000m2 in the higher land not flooded then. The cultivation in the 1.1 hectares by the riverside will start in May, the beginning of the rainy season. The harvest is projected by the year end. The fence on the left and at the back of the area will be mended and renewed.

LET’S ENTERTAIN THE CHILDREN ON XMAS DAY Sunday

Dec 20, 2015

It was supposed to be like any other social activities: everyone got ready with the gifts, luggage and started early in the morning to prepare for the volunteer work. The cold of the early winter morning could not dispel the warm human atmosphere in a bus full of love and kindness. Together we moved to a place where everyone dreamed of, where pure & green seeds in the worldly and spiritual meaning were nourished for future generations. For that purpose, this social activity was concentrated in the infant generation: not only was a Santa Claus invited to distribute gifts to the children on the Christmas occasion, but other artistic & entertaining activities were also organized for the children to express themselves and to be guided to their roots in showing their gratitude to their parents & grandparents through making a card to the beloved. To educate the children to understand that a good deed would lead to a more joyful & beautiful life, we did not forget to make up a lively nice story in a puppet show, an art easily and quickly touching the innocent hearts of the children. Team spirit and mutual support to overcome difficulties on the way ahead were also taught to the children through such games as queuing, climbing the pass, obstacle passing, & other collective games… Further more, the children also attended a yoga class to help them understand that to get a flexible body and a clear mind for good learning & future, they had to practise frequently… The program ended with a good lunch served to the children and their parents, including pure foods and drinks in the Yogic style (homemade, purely vegetarian, without mushrooms, onions, garlics and MSG…)It was an experience completely new and interesting to me: social activities combined with good willed education through various helpful entertainments, in order to inspire and improve the humanistic and beautiful tendency in everyone. I had participated in many social activities before, however this trip left me with lots of good memories, good hopes and wishes for a journey ahead. We moved together on a common vehicle full of love and towards a common goal. We arrived together at a place completely clean and green, where only immense love and peace of mind existed; that place was called Yoga Eco Village or Master Unit, a nourishing place for future generations.Happy & Healthy Life to You All.
